International manufacturer invests in Riverside

James Dawson – an international manufacturer of silicone hoses – has benefitted from waste baling technology provided by Riverside Waste Machinery.

As a division of Fenner Group – a world leader in reinforced polymer technology – the company has decades of experience in the development and production of such solutions, and offers bespoke engineering results to its wide range of clients. With sites across the UK and wider Europe, North America and India, the firm produces silicone hoses for trucks, buses, diesel engines and construction machinery.

But this highly-skilled operation also creates a large amount of waste on a daily basis, in the form of cardboard and plastic film. And at its UK site in Lincoln, James Dawson’s existing waste baler was becomingly increasingly run down.

No stranger to recycling, the business has used the services of a baler for over a decade, but when the time came to find a new model, Adam Desforges – James Dawson’s HSE manager – turned to the internet for a quick solution.

Adam comments: “We knew we needed a new machine, it was just a case of finding the right company to provide us with a suitable baler for our requirements. Riverside were ranked highly in the research I carried out, so I got in touch with Jonathan – Riverside’s MD – and quickly knew we were in safe hands.”

The firm had an RWM 600 machine installed at their production site, which it now uses to bale the high volumes of cardboard and plastic film created, processing an average of 17 large bales of each material every 6-8 weeks.

Adam continues: “We now have a reliable baler that takes care of our waste as well as ensuring that our site is much more tidy and manageable. I would recommend baling to anyone who hasn’t yet implemented it in their business processes – we even earn money from the bales, which are collected by a large recycling company.”

Riverside Waste Machinery is based in Boroughbridge and provides a wide range of machinery for sale or hire. Last year the firm celebrated its 20th anniversary, and has recently launched an online shop, allowing customers to purchase consumables with even greater ease.
